Dal 20 settembre 2016 sono aperte le candidature a tre bandi Horizon 2020 relativi al pilastro Sfide Sociali: i primi due fanno capo al Work programme “Energia sicura, pulita ed efficiente” 2016-2017 e il terzo al Programma di lavoro “Smart, green and integrated transport” 2016-2017.
Il bando Competitive Low Carbon Energy (H2020-LCE-2016-2017) racchiude 9 diverse call per argomenti diversi e con diverse scadenze (5 e 14 gennaio 2017).

Il bando Automated Road Transport (H2020-ART-2016-2017), infine, ha un budget di 50 milioni di euro per tre topic. Le candidature sono suddivise in 2 fasi in scadenza il 26 gennaio 2017 (1° fase) e il 27 settembre 2017 (2° fase).
